Welcome or welcome back to the Hotel Saxonburg and a 170 year old tradition of hospitality and dining, located in the Main Street Historic District of Saxonburg, Pennsylvania. The oldest continually operating restaurant & bar in Butler County.
The current ownership began in the spring of 1958 when Domenic (Roomie) Gentile and his wife Jean purchased the 1832 "Hotel" with the dream of starting a restaurant. At the time, the Hotel Saxonburg was operating only as a bar. Roomie and Jean installed a grill and fryer behind the bar, and Jean began serving homemade soups, sandwiches, and spaghetti to the local patrons.
Through countless hours of hard work, dedication, and support by local and distant patrons, the business grew into a full service, fine dining restaurant with a modern kitchen facility. Roomie, known for his hospitality, ran the front of the house and Jean, a self-educated chef, directed the kitchen until her death in 1980. Her recipes still serve as the foundation for many of our entrees. Our moderately priced menus offer fresh seafood, Italian specialties, aged hand cut steaks, pasta, veal dishes, salads, sandwiches, "Lobster Bisque", and our "Famous Hotel Crab Cakes".
